Does it ever occur to anyone that when we have our eyes glued to the mass media that we seem to just believe everything that we see. Most people aren’t patient enough to actually find news, the news finds them. While many more people who are web savvy have figured out that they don’t have to get their news from places like CNN, Fox News, USA Today, The Post-Dispatch, or even the Montage, I think most people look for the quick fix when it comes to finding out what is going on in the world. Not that I blame them for doing so, knowing that most of the news is pretty boring or uninteresting to people, but for those who actually pay attention to shit going on seem to think what they see and read is the whole truth. Which it’s not.
Just because you read something in the paper or online doesn’t mean that is the whole truth. It makes me wonder if the free press will ever be unbiased. Is it possible? I don’t think so. Especially for the news that most of Americans recieve everyday. I believe that behind every news publication there is some agenda that they may not be blatently saying, but it sure comes off that way. For example, Fox News balanced and fair news programs are obviously not and have a conservative layer to it. And don’t let me forget the opposite end of the spectrum. The liberal side of the media like CNN obviously have a huge boner for Obama. When these giants of media are how most of Americans get their news it is no wonder why each side thinks they are the ones who are presenting the correct side of the news.
The mass media is like fast food. Most people won’t take the time to find food made out of real ingredients, they just look for something quick and what seems to be good tasting. But behind the flashy commercials and the notion that the food is the real deal lies a chunk of artificial and processed crap, wrapped in an appetizing garment. Like fast food, if Americans aren’t willing to stray away from the dominant biased news, to find the truth for themselves, then they are always going to believe that what they are being fed is real.
I’m just saying we’ve got to learn take some time and investigate for ourselves if we want to know the truth. Don’t believe everything you see
Is it just me, or is the death of newspapers a good thing for future journalist?
On the flip side, many older journalists have been waiting for a change. Check this out.
Or, I’m wrong and wasting my education.
